Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers presents "Everybody Loves Pirates"
Thursday, June 25th at 2:30pm

Eight-year-old Lucy and her goofy pal Little Chucky are searching for buried treasure, but a gang of bumbling pirates keeps getting in the way! This show features 15 hand-crafted mouth and rod puppets, and an 8 foot paper-mâché pirate ship.

Program held at the Town of Gray Rec Center Gymnasium at 24 Main Street.

Ready for some fun with a song, a rhyming chant, lots of audience participation, and an adorable, little bear who comes out of hiding to teach about the importance of sunflowers? Fun craft activities to follow!

Join us at Gray Library to hear Everything is Connected: An Ecological Tale read by Maine author Meredith Josselyn! Then learn how to make origami coyotes and make your very own pack!

PLAY Performance and Acting Workshop with Portland Stage Theater for Kids

Wednesday, July 8th from 10:30am-11:45am

Actors perform a dramatic reading of children's literature followed by actively engaging students in workshops using their bodies, voices, and imaginations to build
understanding of the text while bringing the stories and characters to life. For ages 4-10.


Registration required as attendance is limited
to 25 kids. Contact bbarnes@graymaine.org to reserve a spot.

The Kind Kids Music Show

The Kind Kids Music Show is highly interactive, seasonally themed, and appropriate for all ages. Rob Duqette, Amanda Panda, and their Peaceful Puppet
Pals use original music, movement, and puppetry to support literacy development, social emotional skills, and promote wellness, kindness, and joy to kids of all ages--and the grown ups who are raising them.

Maine Music for Kids presents Storytelling, Stage, and Music

Wednesday, July 22nd, Thursday, July 23rd, and Friday, July 24th from 11:00am-12:00pm

*register for one of the three dates*

Designed for the youngest of thespians and divas, this workshop encourages the child in storytelling through acting and singing. Ages 4-10. Registration required as attendance is limited to 20 kids per session. Register for one of the three offered dates by contacting bbarnes@graymaine.org.

Seal On Ice

A Seal's Journey with Marine Mammals of Maine

Tuesday, July 28th at 1:00pm

Join Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) as they take you through a seal’s journey from stranding to release, and all of the obstacles in between. Starting with seal basics such as: whether it’s normal for them to be out of the water and why you might see a baby on its own, and then dive into when and why seals need our help. You will learn what MMoME is, what they do, the  animals they care for, and how you can help.

Thursday, August 20th at 4:00pm

Antonio Rocha (pronounced haw-sha), originally from Brazil, began his career in the performing arts in 1985. Mr. Rocha’s unique and award-winning solo fusion of mime and storytelling with mesmerizing voices and
sound effects has been performed from Singapore to South Africa and many places in between, including 20 countries on 6 continents as well as in 44 US states.

Summer Storytime Schedule

Thursday Storytimes at 10:30 a.m.


During the summer, the library will host just one Storytime per week. These events will alternate between the under-2 program, and the under-5 program. Storytimes for children under 2: June 18, July 2, July 16, July 30, and August 13. Storytimes for children under 5: June 25, July 9, August 6, and August 20. There will be no Storytimes on July 23 or August 27, because of other programs on those dates.

Rainy Day Craft Table

Saturdays 10:00am – 12:00pm

It can be hard to get the fun going on a rainy Saturday. At the Gray Public Library, every rainy summer Saturday will be a day for crafting at the big table in the children’s area. Sometimes we will all work on the same craft, other times we’ll just freestyle. Join us on any rainy Saturday this summer!
