How Do I...?

Get a Gray Public Library Card

Who can get a card?

Free library accounts are available to residents of Gray, New Gloucester, and Raymond.  For a small annual fee of $30, an account is available to any resident of the state of Maine.

What do I need to get a card?

To obtain a card, you will need proof of who you are (driver’s license, state of Maine identification card, passport, etc.) and proof of where you live (if the current address is not listed on your identification card, a utility bill, lease agreement, etc.).  You will need to come to the library, fill out a registration form, and receive the card that could change your life.

Can my child get a card?

Accounts can be created for children age five and up.  A parent and/or legal guardian must be present during registration.

You can view our comprehensive library card policy here.  An application for an adult can be found here and an application for a juvenile card can be found here.

Book a Meeting Room

The Gray Public Library has two meetings rooms located in the lower level of our building.

The Multipurpose Rooms of the Gray Public Library are intended to provide public gathering spaces for nonprofit civic, cultural, educational, intellectual or charitable organizations when the rooms are not being used for Library or town-related activities.  Under certain conditions, applications from other groups may be accepted, subject to approval by the Director of the Gray Public Library.

The meeting rooms are available for use independent of library hours.

For more information on room use, please see the Town of Gray Facilities Use Policy.  An application form can be downloaded here.

If you have any questions regarding use of the space, please feel free to contact us at

657-4110. or graylib@graymaine.org

Give to the Library

There are several ways you can give back to the Gray Public Library!

Book Donations

The Gray Public Library Association hosts two book sales a year at the Gray Public Library. Sales directly benefit the library.

At this time, we are accepting donations only on Saturdays from 11AM to 2PM. Donations are to be left on our outside loading dock, located to the right of the building if you are facing the building. Please limit donations to 2 cartons or 4 grocery sized bags. We will be unable to return containers items are donated in. When you have dropped off your donations, please call 207-657-4110 *202 and let us know the donations are there. Staff will not be able to assist in unloading donations.

For information on donation guidelines, please click here.

Monetary Donations

The Gray Public Library Association (GPLA) accepts monetary donations on behalf of the Gray Public Library. For more information on the GPLA, please see the "About Us" section or access their website at gplaofme.org
